NMSSaveEditor 1.21.0 is now available with support for No Man’s Sky 6.4: The Swarm.
This is a compatibility update, so there is no new interface to learn. The release brings the editor’s item, reward and save-field data up to date with the game. If you have already played The Swarm or plan to edit one of its saves, this is the version to use.
The update at a glance
This may look like a small compatibility release at first, but there is a fair amount of new game data behind it. Here is how the bundled data changed between versions 1.20.0 and 1.21.0:
| Editor data | 1.20.0 | 1.21.0 | Added |
|---|---|---|---|
| Items, products and technologies | 4,727 | 4,777 | 50 |
| Expedition rewards | 252 | 278 | 26 |
| Readable JSON field names | 1,104 | 1,163 | 59 |
| Files bundled in the JAR | 4,085 | 4,130 | 45 |
The useful part is not simply that the database is bigger. Those extra records give the existing editor screens real names and icons for The Swarm content instead of leaving you to work around an unknown ID.
The Swarm rewards are now included
The editor now recognizes 26 rewards added for The Swarm. That includes the title The Fragmented, the Swarm decal and banner, and the full Direwasp cosmetic set:
- Direwasp Helm
- Direwasp Plating
- Direwasp Chestpiece
- Direwasp Gloves
- Direwasp Cuisses
- Direwasp Boots
- Direwasp Disintegrator
- Direwasp Flightpack
The update also includes the Royal, Sage and Weaver team decorations. Each team has its own poster and three flag shapes, along with the Prismatic Core rewards used by the expedition.
These entries matter when you open account and reward data. Instead of an unknown ID or a missing name, the editor can now identify the new unlocks correctly.
If you need to recover one of them, follow the normal expedition reward workflow. Make a backup first and change one reward group at a time.
New expedition items and companion data
Version 1.21.0 adds 50 item, product and technology records in total. The reward entries make up part of that list, but the update also covers objects used during the expedition itself.
The main additions are:
- Challenger’s Invitation and Champion’s Invitation,
- Royal, Sage and Weaver team values,
- Corrupted Ichor and Retroviral Pellet,
- Royal, Sage and Weaver Echo fragments,
- Pilot Echo and Pilot Signature,
- Living Lens,
- and the damaged neural components used by The Swarm content.
Five special companion eggs are now mapped as well: Aeron Crab, Wandering Shrimp Tank, Boundary Horror, Corrupted Quad and Geno-Prawn.
The companion additions are not a new pet editor. They give the current editor the names and records it needs to handle the new content without treating it as unknown data.
Raw JSON has better labels
The Swarm introduced more save data than the visible reward list suggests. Version 1.21.0 adds 59 readable JSON mappings for the new fields.
The new mappings cover companion battles, moves, treats and victories, community teams and team ships, Swarm missions, the Swarm monument, vehicle cargo and several new product and technology lists.
If you use the raw JSON editor, those sections should now be much easier to recognize. If you never edit raw JSON, there is nothing new you need to configure. The mappings work behind the existing interface; they are not 59 new buttons or settings.
Use the raw JSON guide before changing any field that is not exposed in the normal screens.
Do you need to update?
Yes, if you are editing a save that has touched The Swarm content. Version 1.20.0 predates these rewards and mappings, so it cannot identify all of them by name.
For an older save, the basic editing workflow remains the same. You can still update without relearning the app, but do not expect a redesign or a new set of tools. This release is about making the existing tools understand the current game data.
Install version 1.21.0
Once you are ready to update, close both No Man’s Sky and the old editor. Then open the NMSSaveEditor download and install page and choose the package for your platform.
The Windows archive is the quickest option for most PC players: extract it to an empty folder and launch the included EXE or MSI. On Mac, Steam Deck or another Java-based setup, use the JAR build instead. The download page keeps the platform-specific steps together, so you do not have to guess which package to open.
After the new build starts, make a clean backup before editing and test one small change in game first. That is enough to confirm that version 1.21.0 is reading the right save before you touch any Swarm rewards or companion data.
